When you hit the time to retire, what do you envision? Are you sitting on a beach every day drinking an ice-cold beverage? Or are you traveling the world and seeing everything on your bucket list? Well, that will be great for a while. However, there may come a time when you are using too much money or getting bored of the constant leisure. Going back to a full-time job is not the first thing you will want to do, but there are many other things you can do.
Pet Sitter
Being a pet sitter is similar to being a babysitter, except you don’t have to deal with as much crying. With some pets, you will have to deal with some noise. If you enjoy animals but are not sure about getting more, this is the side job for you. Enjoy spoiling a pet while their family is out of town and send them back home. You can have fun with animals without a lifelong commitment. Animal lovers should ensure this is on their list of potential retirement jobs. Everyone is looking for a safe place for their furry family members when they can’t include them.
Substitute
Did you have to get a degree for your career? If you did, you might have the credentials needed to be a substitute teacher for the day. Many states do not require a degree in education to be a substitute. This is a very flexible job; you only pick up days when you want to. There is a minimum each month or quarter to keep your license current. So get out of the house and help the youth get the education they need to make a better world.
Tutor
Along the lines of education, look into tutoring. If running a classroom of students is not your speed, maybe one-on-one will be. People are looking to learn and improve in all areas. You are bound to have some knowledge from your career that they are looking to gain. Leaving your home does not even have to happen for many tutoring services. You can connect online and still have the same impact they need to succeed. It is also a position where you can pick the times you want to work. Everyone is looking for flexibility when they are done with their full-time career.
Seasonal Work
Instead of looking for year-round part-time work, look at the seasonal opportunities. Earn a little extra in the winter and then enjoy spending it during the spring and summer. Those living near resorts may find a fun seasonal job. Get out of the house and work up in the mountains or by the beach during their busy season. Enjoy the views and days off at a fabulous location. Resorts need people around to answer questions and help guests. Not all require heavy lifting or back-breaking work. It could end up being your favorite time of year.
Get out and make a little extra to enjoy.
