The Daily Tip Jar

Air travel has gotten quite extensive and convoluted these days. There are so many stipulations for what you can carry on and what you can take with you on your flight.  For some, a carry-on is an item to keep oneself occupied during the flight, for others it is a way to avoid any additional fees. Whichever one relates to you, there are a few things you can do to make your flight as enjoyable as possible.

Packing for In-flight

There is limited room in your carry-on so you need to make sure that everything you bring works for you. Lugging a heavy bag around the airport while you wait for your flight is no one’s idea of fun. Make sure you are packing the essentials and keeping other miscellaneous items to a minimum. Things that you might consider essential would be a bag for emergencies that has lip balm, moisturizers, facial sprays, or anything else that will make you feel relaxed and comfortable during your flight. Make sure you include entertainment for your flight, a good book, a video game system, or anything that will keep your mind and body occupied. Just be sure to pack headphones so you do not disturb your fellow seat mates.

Packing for the Week

If you are using your carry-on as your luggage so you do not incur any additional fees, you will have to be really crafty with what you pack. Be aware of restrictions for bathroom items, and really streamline your lotions and potions.  Packing layers and articles of clothing that can be repurposed many different ways will be your best course of action. Only pack two pairs of shoes and make them work for everything. Not everyone can carry on their suitcase, so know your limitations and if you have to check your bag in the cargo, accept it and move on.

Investing in the Right Tools

Whether carrying on for fun or for necessity, make sure you have the right tools to get the job done. Invest in a bag that is easy to transport throughout the airport – something with wheels or ultra-light weight.  While the idea of saving a little money sounds great, sometimes paying to drop your heavy bag and forget about it is worth whatever the cost might be. If the goal of your trip is relaxation, treat yourself to not lugging a heavy bag for two hours before your flight.  There are so many different modern suitcases these days that have all sorts of little gadgets. For example, the luggage company Away has bags with built-in chargers for your phone and other cool accessories. By investing in the right tools, it will ensure that you have a less stressful travel day.

Packing for a trip can be frustrating, but the goal is to make it as stress-free as possible with a few of these ideas. The next time it’s wheels up for you and/or your family, play it smart by planning ahead and having the right tools for the job.
