The Daily Tip Jar

Wasting money is something no one wants to do. Why throw away your hard-earned money? As you move toward a fixed income, there is less room for wasting money. Take time to look into all the nook and crannies and find the money that should be in your savings account. Here are some everyday things people are losing money on.

Subscriptions

Many companies want to trap us into a subscription. Not all subscriptions are harmful and can be very useful. What if you forget about your subscription and stop using the service? They are going to keep charging you month after month. Take a look at your monthly statement and see any subscriptions you can live without. Many are surprised by the amount of auto-draft subscriptions. While auto payments can be convenient, they make it easy to spend money. You are less likely to waste money on subscription if you have to send the funds personally each month.

Cable

Cable is becoming a thing of the past. Who needs five hundred channels when you only watch five? Cable is more expensive than many of the available streaming services. Research each to see which supplies the channels you love. Hulu, Netflix, and Sling are a few of the more popular options. Only pay for what you want, save the rest of the money for other fun activities.

Wasting Money

Trips to the Store

Plan your shopping days. The fewer times you step into a store, the less you will spend. Buy groceries for the whole week. Don’t make multiple trips. Many small shopping trips will make it easy to add things you do not need to the cart.  One large trip helps to cut back on impulse buying. When you see the bill getting larger and larger, we tend to keep to the necessities. This same pattern applies to other shopping trips. The more you walk into the mall, the more you are going to spend.

Organization

Stop wasting money by being organized. How many times have you had to purchase something because you have misplaced or lost something? After you made the purchase, how many times have you found that lost item? Even small costs like phone chargers add up over time. No matter how cheap or expensive, keep track of your belongings and take care of them. You will save more money by not wasting it on unneeded purchases.

Cleaning Products

The cleaning aisle goes on forever. There is a cleaner for every single area in your home. You need a whole cupboard to keep everything. If the look at the ingredients, how many are made up of the same things. The answer is probably a lot of them. Companies want us to keep spending money on all the different products they produce. Don’t waste on a different version of the same product. Get products that can be used in many areas.

Get your money to last longer by finding the ways you are losing money unintentionally.
